ascension
oil on primed and sealed plywood, with pyrographic lines
12 x 10"

This painting is from the "Chutes and Ladders" series, referencing the child's game.
If you haven't played in a while, or ever, it can be summed thus:

good girls climb, and bad girls slide.

This particular figure climbs with a handful of Dionysos' vines; she hasn't forgotten
how it feels to slide. Her eyes are shut as she remembers, and she finds the climbing
easy.

The dark lines are burned into the wood support. The piece was then primed and painted. The
framing elements are permanently attached to the work.
